Executives

Mario Bruketa, President

Mario has 20 years of experience developing leading edge technology for internet and mobile communications. Mario moved to Canada in the early ’80s where he worked for Bell Northern Research in voice communications and in the optical domain, including developing the world’s first OC-12 product. In the nineties Mario joined Nortel Networks in Europe. He was a core team member behind the creation of the joint venture with Daimler Benz-Nortel Dasa. Responsible for engineering, operations and customer support, he grew the lab from nothing to over 300 people in three years. The joint venture reached annual revenue of US$500M. In 1999 Mario moved to Silicon Valley to create an IP telephony enterprise product line for Nortel Networks. A few years later he joined Italtel with the responsibility of creating and implementing their long-term North America strategy. Over the last three years, Italtel has moved from being a regional vendor, to capturing the third position globally in the VoIP softswitch segment.

Mario is a member of the Board of Directors of the USC Marshall School of Business. He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a master's degree in Computer Engineering. He lives in Ottawa, Ontario with his wife and three children. His hobbies are piloting hot air balloons, driving racecars, and collecting European antiques.

Gerard Glowka (Jerry), Vice President, Sales

For over 20 years Mr. Glowka has been involved in Information Technology in various sales and business development functions.  His work spans wide area communications, non-stop computing and disaster recovery, and high performance storage solutions.  For the last few years Jerry has been involved in Security Threat Management.

Jerry is one of the most unique and colorful individuals around.  Jerry has been involved in some of the most novel initiatives from inventing a new flavour of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, to running what is still the largest revenue generating boot shop in Vermont , to setting up the IT infrastructure for Cirque de Soleil.  Ten years ago Jerry got excited about the lack of and consequently the opportunities in the IT security market segment.  His technical understanding and his ability to clearly communicate the value of various best of breed products are just some of his extraordinary gifts.  Over the last six years Jerry was directly involved in making some of the biggest winners in the technology and business sector available in Canada.  In 2002 it was BlueArc which has become the number one high end storage company (Storage 2009 Product of the Year, InfoWorld 2009 Technology of the Year).  2004 was the year of Fortinet. Fortinet not only created a brand new category with Gartner but for the last few years has been the clear leader in the UTM space.  Fortinet also won the SC Magazine’s 2009 Reader Trust Award.  In 2005 it was Niksun which in the following year won InfoWorld Technology of the Year award, and in 2008 SC Magazine Five Star Award winner.  In 2008 it was Fusion-io with recognition coming a year later as a Red Herring Top 100 Company and the fastest growing storage firm in the last decade.  Even Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple took six months longer to discover Fusion-io.  (He is now their chief scientist).  Presently Jerry is working with Steve on a new solid state platform to be implemented in cloud computing.

On the sales side, Jerry has been relentless in ever increasing his sales.  He placed AppGate with the Government of Canada to support the transfer of billions of dollars in provincial transfer payments.  He is delivering Fortinet to each of the thousands of Service Canada locations found across the country.  At Rogers Centre (The Dome) in Toronto he architected and sold Niksun for PCI compliance within Rogers’s group.  His revenue line continues to grow at over 50% year after year.
